Housing Data Sources
clear

The following data layers are available on the DataMap Tool.

Banker and Tradesman Housing Sales Data, 1988-2007, Municipal
These datalayers include all home sales, condominium sales, and single family home sales from 1988-2007, at the municipal level. The information contains the median home price, yearly percent change of median home price, and number of home sales. The data of Boston is from Department of Neighborhood Development, City of Boston.

Census Housing Data, 1990 & 2000
Data source:
U.S. Census Data
These datalayers include housing data from 1990 and 2000 at the municipal level, and housing data of 2000 at the census tract level.

Census Building Permits Data, 1990-2006
These datalayers include census building permits data from 1990-2006, at the municipal level. The building permits data include residential, single family, 2-4 family, and 5+ family housing unit permits.

Average Single Family Tax Data, 2000-2007
This datalayer contains single family tax information from 2000 to 2007, including single family parcels, average value, tax rate, and tax bill. Average single family tax bills are calculated by dividing the single family assessed value by the single family parcels for each community and then multiplying the average value by the residential tax rate and dividing by one thousand. The information of 13 communities that have adopted a residential exemption are not available from this database, because they do not submit adequate data to determine an average tax bill.
