This datalayer contains the total student enrollment in public schools for each municipality from 1994 to 2006. The municipal grades and enrollment indicate the grades offered and the total enrollment in this municipality; the shared district grades and enrollment displays the grade and enrollment of the Academic Regional School District in which this municipality is enrolled in. Other grades and enrollment displays the grades and enrollment of another municipality, with which this municipality has Grade Tuition Agreement. Grade Tuition Agreement means that a municipality may tuition all their students in a particular grade span into another school system. This data set includes the MCAS data for 3rd Grade MCAS Reading/English Language Arts Proficiency (%) 2001-2008; 4th Grade MCAS 10th Grade MCAS Math and English Language Arts Proficiency(%) 2001-2008; 10th Grade MCAS Math and English Language Arts Proficiency (%) 2001-2008; 4th Grade and 10th Grade Math and English Language Arts Proficiency by Special Populations for 2006-2008 for each MAPC municipality. The MCAS data could be used to support local educators’ efforts to improve curriculum and to better serve the academic needs of all their students. The data is for the public school system serving each community, and does not cover private or charter schools. Results from these schools and additional tests are available through the MDOE website. In 2006, MDOE adopted new testing policies that renamed the 3rd Grade "Reading" test "English Language Arts," and made minor changes to testing procedures and reporting rules. The High School Dropout Rate provides information on students who dropped out of Massachusetts public schools during the 2005-2006 reporting years. Dropouts are defined as those students in grades nine through twelve who leave school prior to graduation for reasons other than transfer to another school. |

Educational attainment refers to the highest level of education completed in terms of the highest degree or the highest level of schooling completed. The educational attainment data are important for government agencies on funding allocations and program planning and implementation. |
